The Remote Mom Collective Podcast, Season 1 Episode 2
In Episode 2 of "The Remote Mom Collective Podcast," I, Britni the Remote Mom, dive deep into the topic of vulnerability and overcoming the fear of judgment. This is a topic close to my heart, and I believe it's a crucial discussion for all of us navigating the remote work world and motherhood.
You might not be familiar with my background, so here’s a little recap. I've been working remotely since 2007, long before it became the norm. My husband’s military career took us all over the world, and I've been fortunate enough to carry my remote work with me. In 2016, my passion for helping others led me to co-host the “MilSpouse Coffee House Podcast,” specifically for military spouses. Now, I'm bringing that same energy and dedication to empower remote moms.
Our episode kicks off with a raw look into why vulnerability is an important first topic for this podcast. Letting down our guard and sharing our true selves can be scary, especially when we fear judgment. But it’s through vulnerability that we form genuine connections and grow as individuals.
When I shared my own challenges of being vulnerable, especially around people close to me, I realized that true empowerment comes from embracing our authentic selves, even in the face of potential judgment.
Judgment can be paralyzing. Whether it's worrying about what other moms think according to their TikTok standards or feeling self-conscious about your career choice, the fear of judgment can hold you back. It's critical to reframe our thoughts and build self-confidence. Your worth is not defined by someone else’s opinion.
I encouraged listeners to flip the script on judgment. If you feel judged for not making everything from scratch, remember: it’s okay! Everyone’s journey is unique. What matters is what works for you and your family. The more authentic you are, the more you’ll attract your true tribe.
In our discussion, I shared specific ways to use vulnerability for growth. For instance, opening up about how you feel with your children, partner, or even new friends can build stronger bonds and deeper connections. Every time I’ve let my guard down and shared my story, I’ve found more support and understanding than I ever expected.
Being the first to say hello, admit you’re underdressed at an event, or share an embarrassing story can create instant connections. Vulnerability can transform your interactions and empower you to be your true self.
This podcast isn’t just for sharing tips and stories; it’s a journey that we’re all on together. I am committed to supporting, inspiring, and growing with each of you. If you struggle with vulnerability and judgment, know that you’re not alone. We're in this hand-in-hand, ready to redefine what it means to be a remote working mom.
For those eager to dig deeper, I’ve prepared a supplemental worksheet to help you reflect on today's topic. You can find it in the show notes, and I encourage you to take some time for yourself to work through it.

Until next time!
